I've been following Wiz's career since he was 16-years-old and it seems he's found his niche making anthems for the weed smoking set. Check out this leak for "When U Find" off his new mixtape Burn After Rolling, which drops November 2nd.
Q: "How would you describe your style?" A: "As a cross between Velvet Underground and DJ Premier" Awesome answer! Just one of the many great soundbites in this interview with my newest favorite white guys The Kickdrums. Their new album There Might Be Blood is dropping 2mrro.

On the real tho, I'm glad to see Robin Givens and Johnny Gill have jobs and haven't jumped aboard VH1's Celebreality trainwreck lineup.

Check Out Dance Footage From Michael Jackson's This Is It
Uploaded by SonyPictures. - Full seasons and entire episodes online.
Damn, makes me sad to think what might've been. But Paris and the Princes are set for life -- this movie is about to rake in the dough.
I aint gon lie... I was hype when I saw this trailer. I was a huge fan of the Ohio native's Just A Game EP and I suspect with this new project that drops on Halloween that Fitty and Tilla will deliver the goods. Keep a eye out for these cats, I see big things happening for them in the future. Im HipHopObama and I endorse this music.

As I posted a couple of days ago, UNDRCRWN and Philly's own DJ Jazzy Jeff (whatup bol) have teamed up to release a Michael Jackson tribute mix that dropped TODAY. According to Jeff he sequenced this tape EXACTLY as he would spin these records in a set for a party. If Michael Jackson music, an iconic DJ, and a dope clothing line weren't enuff reason to download then the hilarious cartoon cover should be. Support this jawn, download available at www.undrcrwn.com
Back cover is pretty dope too. Heres a glimpse of the tracklisting for you looky-loos
This is the 1st video released from Stalley's upcoming project The Autobiography and is directed by Creative Control. Gotta chance to meet him at the A3C Festival back a couple weeks ago, cool cat, much respect. Shoutout to the Homies of GFC @mickeyfactz, @gfcsteveo, and @Precize

I'm waiting for this album to come out to see if it can make me into the fan I'm not. Wale doesn't get the Kid Cudi treatment from me, but I'm not about to Solange out over him either. Props for the "Pretty Girls" artwork below tho:

3 Root Canals >>>>>>> the idea of a Cory Gunz reality show. Somebody pass me the novacaine STAT!
Here is the trailer for the newest project from the eclectic group of gentlemen known as Hollyweerd. I really dig this video, lots of energy, personality, and couple of funny candids, a good look indeed. Be on the look out for the The Mandatory Mandate
Tuesday night the homie Donnis opened up for The Clipse @ the Hiro Ballroom in NYC. The kid has been doin his thizzle for some time now and I can feel the temperature rising on his buzz everyday. Shouts to @pill4180 and @whiteboyd for having their cameo swag on a thousand-trillion lol!

Personally, Im DYING for this album drop hiphop needs it, and a record like this is enough to satisfy and crack-rap fan's thirst for the raw (pauze). Get ya medical mask and Pyrex pots ready!

The 4th Annual Black Girls Rock! Awards were held Saturday, October 17 in New York City. Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King, honorees included poet/activist/playwright Dr. Sonia Sanchez, who was awarded "Living Legend"honors; Naomi Campbell accepted a "Fashionista" award; Janelle Monae received "Who's Got Next"recognition, ;Doug E. Fresh and Def Leopard guitarist Phil Collen presented Queen Latifah with the "Rock Star" Award; and Catherine Malandrino honored Mary J. Blige by introducing her as the 2009 Black Girls Rock! "Icon" Award recipient. Doug E. also performed his own hits, while Janelle Monae closed the show with a performance of her song "Sincerely Jane."
The good times were all in the name of a good cause. Mr. & Mrs. RJ Masi of RJ Masi World Construction and Interior Design (they have a new show on HGTV about "green" building) donated $25,000 to the Black Girls Rock! Inc. foundation (founded by celebrity DJ Beverly Bond), which was later matched by another $25,000 donation from Queen Latifah.
Bobbito Garcia. What DOESN'T this guy do? The DJ, Streetballer, Writer, Sneakerhead, TV/Radio Host is truly "The Most Interesting Man in The World" word to Dos Equis. The hiphop aficionado chops it up with my TV crush Soledad O'Brien on the CNN special Latino In America airing Oct 21 & 22 at 9pm. Miralo, entiendes?
Tambien, este es el anuncio para la programa (Im such a show off LOL)
Cute guys. Real cute.
Gotta love folks who will just give it to you like they really feel. In ya face beotch.
The Get Busy Committee is Ryu (Styles of Beyond, Fort Minor), Apathy (Demigodz, Army of the Pharaohs) and super-producer Scoop Deville. Their debut album, Uzi Does It, will be released for pre-sale album download on October 27th at www.getbusycommittee.com and available on iTunes and other outlets on November 10th.
From their press release:
The record is being released on their own label, Tokyo Sex Whale Records. Ryu was once signed to Warner Brothers and Apathy to Atlantic. No offense to the A&R rep who thinks phrases like, "I think you should work on your skateboard skills" or "you should go to the gym so you can take your shirt off on stage" is career advice, but Get Busy Committee decided to eschew label interest this time around and go their own route. "We can fuck it up ourselves, thanks," they were heard to say. So, Uzi Does It became a 100% self-funded, self-released independent record.
And they even incorporated the UZI into a USB format to distribute the album. Download "My Little Razor Blade" and "Chillin' Out Maxin'" below.

I love his music and I hate this album cover. Not sure if he's trying to distract us from his nose or what but uhhh. No likey.
Son's self-titled debut was bananas, I'm hoping the second lives up to the first. Mind you, this will be album #2 for 2009. He's on that Plies/The-Dream release cycle.

In case you haven't been keeping up with the copywrite battle between Obama "HOPE" poster artist Shepherd Fairey and the Associated Press, you might want to start paying attention. Fairey recently admitted to lying about which AP image he used to create the famed poster, which will potentially ruin his chances to claim "fair use" in the copywrite dispute. Check up on the latest HERE.
But uh, is it fair for the AP to be writing stories about cases they're involved in? Just sayin'.
Well...maybe a lil more than that. From time to time I come across a car design that makes me stop and say "cotdamn I gotta get one of these!" The Mercedes-Benz 300SL-inspired "Gullwing" SLS AMG is DEFINITELY one of them. The 6.3-liter V8 produces 563 hp and goes from 0-60 in a Usain Bolt-like 3.7 seconds. So for all you Ricky Bobby's out there that just wanna "go fast" this car is a reason to get your 1s up. MSRP will be well over 180k.
A homie of mine recently put me up on an up and coming artist named Rob Jay from Houston. The 1st record I heard was this lil diddy called "Director's Chair" and I dig it. Def has a cool vibe reminiscent of the early 90's hiphop that many of us know and love. For a download click right herre----> http://www.zshare.net/audio/67173434ccd0c999/

There's a good reason why Souls of Mischief will probably be around from "'93 Til Infinity". They still deliver a great live show and they've been making good money on the road and making music independently since their debut years ago. If you're in NYC for CMJ don't miss them or the rest of the dope Audible Treats lineup!
Decon just put me up on a new singer (who is a member of the blessed family of big haired folks) Nneka. Her album CONCRETE JUNGLE is due out on Yo Mama/Decon/Epic, February 2, 2010. You can hear her song "The Uncomfortable Truth" HERE.
Sounds like homegirl has been at it for awhile, her first album Victim of Truth (released in the UK in 2007) met with plenty of praise by the British media. (‘As good as The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,’ said UK’s The Sunday Times). Her second release, No Longer At Ease, landed her on tour with Lenny Kravitz.
Nneka’s first US release, Concrete Jungle, stands as an offering of love, hope and optimism dedicated to the people of Warri & the Niger Delta of Nigeria. Holding it all together is the emotional focus of her beautiful voice, located in a place somewhere between yearning and rage.
Nneka fans number in the hundreds of thousands across two continents, as she divides her time between homes in Lagos and Hamburg, Germany. She's now set to tour the U.S. so make sure you check for her. Dates are below.
November Tour Dates:
Monday, 11/9 - New York, NY - Joe’s Pub
Tuesday, 11/10 - New York, NY - Highline Ballroom w/ The Roots
Thursday, 11/12 - Boston, MA - Café 939
Friday, 11/13 - Philadelphia, PA - World Café Live
Saturday, 11/14 - Vienna, VA - Jammin’ Java
Tuesday, 11/17 - New York, NY - Highline Ballroom
Thursday, 11/19 - Santa Monica, CA - Zanzibar
Friday, 11/20 - San Francisco, CA - Café Du Nord
I stumbled on this old video of her too in case your curiosity is piqued.

This is amongst some of the funniest shit i've seen in a while. Gotta love Chris Rock for actually tellin the story, and props to Nia Long for takin it on the chin...er, being a good sport! LOL
B.O.B. is my favorite to win in the Rookie of the Year category -- he's nominated along with Dorrough, Wale, Drake and Kid Cudi. Of course Drake is the favorite in the category, but I thought it was an interesting gesture for BET to nominate B.O.B. when he's been an outspoken critic of the whole "Patron and Swag" movement (that BET loves so much). I interviewed the rapper also known as Bobby Ray a few weeks ago when his nomination was announced and asked him to address the irony. Here is what he had to say.
I’ve always been this I’m gonna be different, stand alone [artist] but after awhile you have to learn how to keep your soul but still operate in the system. You got to be in the system but not of it. When it really starts picking up and you start entering mainstream America and becoming a household name which I’m just starting to, now it’s even more of a challenge to stay true to my nature. It’s one thing when you have an intention to be different and it’s another when you are naturally different, so in order to be myself and stay sane I just have to be me, which will stand out naturally.
Love that kid. Good luck today B.O.B.

I'm sure that there are plenty of couples who can identify with this one. I really like how this video fills in the blanks from the "Take off Your Blues" video. If you didn't see that one already I'll post it for you.
Nice... So we move from "Pulp Fiction" to "The Hangover"! I love it when Mike Bigga lets loose and doesn't take things so seriously for a little bit. I probably could have done without the tooth removal, but cheers to topless dancers right guys? NSFW web videos FTW!
Been hearing the buzz over U-N-I for awhile but even after seeing these kids perform last weekend at A3C I'm just not over the moon about them. I like this video a lot though, everything from the color quality of what they filmed, to the comic sketches to the thought behind the lyrics and video makes me think they're obviously some smart & creative brothers. I soooo want to like them, this video is getting me closer to it, but I think I'm still waiting for a song I truly connect to. Any U-N-I fans out there who can suggest something that will make me change my tune? Holla @ ya girl please.
"Let It Go" Freestyle
Shouts to Terry Smith, Fadia Kader, SMKA & my Smoking Section crew!!! Love you Cam, MZ & TC
A number of celebrities are rallying behind Haiti to help the embattled country win a global competition hosted by BBC World News and Newsweek. Wyclef, actress/model Garcelle Beauvais, Russell Simmons, Free (Power 105 FM), Sha Money, Tony Yayo, DJ Whoo Kid, Mona Scott-Young (Monami Entertainment), actor Jamie Hector and singer Black Dada have signed on as ambassadors for LOVE ‘N HAITI, a recycling project in Port-au-Prince that turns everyday trash into energy. LOVE ‘N HAITI – an initiative also championed by President Bill Clinton -- is one of twelve finalists in the BBC’s “World Challenge ’09,” which will award a grant to the finalist with the most online votes. The cash grant will help LOVE ‘N HAITI continue its recycling efforts, which aid in decreasing deforestation, creating jobs, and reducing the incidence of floods.
“I’m proud to be a part of this campaign, not only because it’s for my people, but because I care about our environment,” says Wyclef. “All it takes is one vote to make a difference. We need everyone to support LOVE N’ HAITI!”
To log your vote for LOVE ‘N Haiti, visit http://www.theworldchallenge.co.uk/index.php. Voting ends November 13.
Mick Boogie and Terry Urban once again unite with some of their favorite artists and producers to curate a unique remix project... this time remixing one of biggest sensations in the UK music scene, The Noisettes.
Taking the acapellas from The Noisettes album Wild Young Hearts and merging them with the samples and ideas from Kanye's sublime 808s and Heartbreaks, Mick, Terry and friends provide a completely unique and soulful take on the exciting music being created by Shingai and the gang. And this time, we brought along the good people from Okayplayer.com to help spread the word!

I'm glad to see Green Lantern getting his money, but seriously? Hip-Hop All Star for the iPhone? First T-Pain now Cudi -- just curious who signed off on this ad though... Can we get any more cliche with the graffiti and b-boy graphics? And Cudi never fails with the profound lyricism. Oy.

This joint comes from an artist out of South Carolina called Zakiya who is only 17 years old! She's gearing up for her debut self titled release next month. Homegirl's voice kinda reminds me of Chrisette Michele. I love the song, but what do you think?
So as I sit here minding my own business, JaneeTMB has the audacity to begin to play some tracks that immediately begin to assualt my ears. Cymbals crashing, horns blaring, and a snare that sounds like a .38 being shot in a bathroom instantly my hiphop curiosity is aroused *pauze* Upon asking who produced these melodious, neck snappin tracks I learn of a young man named Alex Goose. Alex has recently released a "mixtape" of tracks he submitted for Blueprint 3 that Hov didnt accept (Can't tell me at LEAST 1 of these wouldn't have helped *no shots*) Hit the link for a stream or free download. http://www.blueprint3outtakes.com/
Whas good people! I'd like to take this time to welcome myself to the IFWI family. I'll wait for your applause....haha. Now that thas outta the way I look forward to updating here regularly and bringin you "the hot fire" word to Dylan. This is my 1st blog post ever and I must say its pretty empowering, but I digress. Im glad to be here and excited for the future. If u see me in these skreets holla at a playa, if u fux wit me, I fux wit u! Im HipHopObama and I endorse this blog.

I have to give the homie Sean Falyon props for introducing me to another great L.A. connect -- El Prez. Spent a lot of time with him during A3C weekend and he has some of THE BEST onstage energy I witnessed all weekend. Check out him and the homie DNez performing on Day 3 of Perfect Attendance Below.
El Prez "Up On This"
El Prez "Cop Trees"
"When in LA we COP TREES to spark Up!"! Break it on down and we roll it back up! Break it on down and we roll it back up! Now that's a hook I can get behind. :)
I'm not all the way sold on this one yet, but just when I was ready to write it off as the same old straight to DVD hood/rapper flick something about the trailer pulled me in. The production quality actually looks pretty decent, and the female lead seems like a good actress. The ATL premiere is Oct. 15th and I'm planning on being there.
The homies Coodie and Chike teamed up with 'The Soulful Fundamentalist' (Keith C. Harris) to direct this one... Super simple and effective.
If you didn't already know, Joy Jones is the master of Afro-beat lullabies, protest songs, future jazz/soul and electronic hymns. “Over” is the 2nd single released from Godchild on July 17 on Future Soul Records
What you think about this one?
dope video alert! how cute is this? props to q-tip for still keeping things fresh.

Love female spitters, and Uffie is one of the most endearing and engaging voices out there right now. Plus she gets originality points for this video. Funny how I never thought of the "glock" in a certain sense until this video.
Any "True Blood" watchers like me who noticed the resemblance between this video and the Mary Ann orgies on that show? Um, "Wasted" indeed. I respect human life and all but uh, what a waste.

So Saturday was the last night of A3C so I had to go show love to my homie DV One! As you know I post his mixes here regularly, but since he's in Seattle I rarely see him. He and the Big Tune team (Jake One, J.Moore, Vitamin D) were over at The Earl in East Atlanta hosting Red Bull Big Tune: A3C All Star Edition feat. Battle Cat, 9th Wonder, Diamond D & DJ Premier so I stopped by to soak up the beats that provide the backbone of hip-hop music.
I ran into Dow and Henny of Tha Bizness while I was over there. I also caught sight of Maestro in the crowd. The vibe over at the Earl was completely different than over at Five Spot, in the fact that every single audience member was totally focused on what the men onstage were doing. The energy in there was amazing, it was the stuff producer hard-ons are made of.
In case you didn't know, Tha Bizness are also from Seattle and DV and Dow are close like brothers (Henny and Dow are cousins) and their cousin Jay Berry, who is also a songwriter/producer, was also in the house. So it was truly a family affair. I couldn't stay long because I wanted to try and see Rakim at Ice House, so I left after staying for most of Premier's set.
And I arrived at Ice House just as Evil Dee, Walt, DJ Bazarro, Wayne Ski and more of my NY peoples were leaving. They tried their best to get me and Jah in but the spot was at capacity so we opted to head back to Five Spot in time to see Diz Gibran, U-N-I, J.Cole and Bobby Creekwater.
Tree Sound Studios A&R Jason "Jah" Lee (manages Sugar Tongue Slim, Sterling Simms and Miz Shanti) with hip-hop aficionado Eastside Kris!
The L.A. homie El Prez posted up at the bar before his Perfect Attendance Performance.

Here's a few flicks, YouTube is not being my friend right now so video will have to wait.
Hands down, best moment so far this weekend for me was watching Curren$y shut it down and then chopping it up with him, only to learn that his SOHH interview w/ yours truly was his first and that it helped him realize he had an audience after leaving Young Money.
Two of the best writers in hip-hop Trent Clark of The Smoking Section and Maurice Garland
TC and fellow TSS writer Marshall Zigler aka MZ -- aka Quiet Storm, cuz in my couple days worth of observation he's a man of few words, but he will catch you slippin with the unexpected cracks.
Okay, let me just say that I've known Naledge (who I actually call Jabari!) since he signed to Rawkus in like '05/'06 -- so I have watched him grow from a skinny little kid with lyrics, to this big brawny hip-hop cat. Shawty got thick! I likes I likes... but yeah I'm sure none of ya'll care much about that. Joe Scudda is the new homie -- I'm loving the beard. I had to give him a hard time about the random white chick on his tee and he was a good sport.
Looking forward to seeing Diz Gibran J.Cole and El Prez rip it tonight. Also gotta spend some time with the Seattle homies DV One, J. Moore, Vitamin D and Jake One over at the Earl tonight -- they're doing Red Bull Big Tune with Premier, Battlecat, 9th Wonder and hella folks.

Tuesday I headed to the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead for the Moet Hennessy Holiday Preview:
I was greeted by a beautiful model who escorted me to a beautiful suite with a huge spread of breads, cheeses, fruits, hummus etc... and lots and lots and lots of liquor.
I have to give it the Moet/Hennessy marketing department because they clearly put a lot of thought into the packaging, and even came up with some inventive things like chillers for their Grand Marnier and a new mojito flavored lip balm from 10 Cane rum.
I definitely appreciated the personal attention from Moet Hennessy reps Cassondra and Trisha (who awed me with her detailed explanation of the process that goes into making a fine bottle of Glenmorangie).
So yeah, if you're stumped on what to get me this holiday season you can't go wrong with some Navan Natural Vanilla Liqueur, a Dom Perignon "Love" Gift Box or if you're feeling especially like indulging me -- the $200,000 Hennessy Beaute Du Siecle -- a literal treasure chest of alumninum and Murano glass that houses a bottle of Hennessy along with a set of cognac glasses, the Beaute du Siecle book and an original print.
Special thanks to Caroline Sweet!
